Man pleads guilty for role in deadly tractor-trailer crash

NEW LONDON, Conn. - A Massachusetts truck driver involved in a 2014 crash that killed a 26-year-old man and his two young children on a Connecticut highway has pleaded guilty to negligent homicide.
Sixty-two-year-old Gerard Dube faces up to nine months in prison. The Day reports that the Swansea, Massachusetts, resident entered his plea Tuesday at Superior Court in New London and is expected to return there for sentencing on Jan. 23.

RANCHO TEHAMA RESERVE, Calif. - The gunman behind a rampage in Northern California was out on bail charged with stabbing a neighbor, others had complained about him firing hundreds of rounds from his house, and he had been the subject of a domestic violence call the day before the attack. Yet Kevin Neal was free and able to use a semiautomatic rifle and two handguns Tuesday to shoot 14 people, killing four, in seven different locations across his rural community, including an elementary school, before he died in a shootout with police.

Bail cut for alleged driver in crash that killed 4

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - A judge has reduced bail for a Connecticut man authorities say was driving an SUV that crashed in Massachusetts earlier this year, killing four passengers. The Republican newspaper reports that a judge on Tuesday reduced Aaron Thorne's bail to $25,000 cash from $50,000. The attorney for the 19-year-old Thorne asked that the bail be reduced to $5,000, while prosecutors asked that it remain unchanged.
