Police searching for suspect in sexual assault of 7-year-old girl on South Side

CHICAGO - Chicago police are searching for a man who allegedly broke into a Roseland home and sexually assaulted a 7-year-old girl early Thursday morning.
Police said a 7-year-old girl was asleep in her home at approximately 3 a.m. near the 10200 block of South Indiana Avenue when an unknown man forcibly entered the home through the bedroom window and sexually assaulted the child.
Upon discovery by the child's father, the suspect fled the home and ran into the 102nd Street alley between Forest Avenue and Prairie Avenue.

An off-duty Plymouth firefighter and an off-duty police officer rescued a 3-year-old child from a pond Thursday evening, according to fire officials.
The off-duty firefighter and officer, who were both attending Family Night at Camp Clark on Hedges Pond Road, found the toddler in distress in the pond at around 7:15 p.m.
The child was in the water with a child life vest, but the child's face went underwater, and the off-duty first responders quickly entered the water and pulled the child out, according to Plymouth Fire Chief Edward Bradley.
