Ballot dropbox torched outside Boston Public Library, 35 ballots destroyed

The state's top elections chief is asking local officials to step up security around ballot dropboxes after 35 ballots were destroyed when a dropbox was set on fire in a “deliberate attack” outside the Boston Public Library in the pre-dawn hours of Sunday morning, officials confirmed.
“What happened in the early hours of this morning to the ballot drop box in Copley Square is a disgrace to democracy, a disrespect to the voters fulfilling their civic duty, and a crime,” U.S. Attorney Andrew Lelling and Secretary of State William F. Galvin said in a joint statement.
