US Capitol Police detained nine people, including the chair of the Congressional Black Caucus, for an “illegal demonstration” inside a Senate office building demanding the passage of Democrats' election reforms.
Seven women and two men were arrested on Thursday afternoon inside the Hart Senate Office Building in Washington, DC. The Capitol Police said they gave three warnings to participants in the “illegal demonstration activity” to disperse.

Congressional Black Caucus Chair Rep. Joyce Beatty was among nine protesters arrested Thursday afternoon who were calling on the Senate to pass voting rights legislation.
Chanting “end the filibuster” and “let the people vote” the group marched into Hart Senate Office Building in what Beatty said was an effort to “send a message.”
The group of around 20 people spent about 20 minutes in the building before Capitol Police delivered several warnings and restrained the protesters with zip ties. The police detained Beatty first, then led her and other protesters outside to waiting Capitol...
