Alex Shibutani reflects on Shib Sibs' road to Olympic bronze

Maia and Alex Shibutani became the first ice dancers of Asian descent to win an Olympic medal after their second-place free dance performance clinched bronze for the United States in the figure skating team event. Though the pair have been a force in the figure skating world for years, their rise to prominence faced many roadblocks, not only because of their heritage, but also because of their shared DNA in a sport that is traditionally performed with many romantic elements.

And now its onto the big one. The U.S. women decidedly dispatched the Olympic Athletes from Russia, 5-0, Tuesday to remain perfect ahead of Wednesdays date with undefeated Canada. By now you know the history between these two teams. Since womens hockey was introduced to the Olympics at the 1998 Nagano Games, the U.S. or Canada has won every gold medal, facing off in all but one of the five Winter Games. After the U.S. won the inaugural gold, theyve been shutout since, losing in sometimes excruciating fashion to Canada in three gold medal games.

PYEONGCHANG, Korea, Republic Of - Alex Gough captured Canada's first-ever medal in women's luge.
The Calgary native won the bronze medal in the women's singles race at the Pyeongchang Winter Games.
Competing at her fourth Olympics, Gough finished with a combined four-run time of three minutes 5.64 seconds.
German Natalie Geisenberger captured her second consecutive gold medal in 3:05.232 while compatriot Dajana Eitberger was second in 3:05.599.
