Sony Michel ran for 129 yards and had three touchdowns and the New England Patriots beat the Los Angeles Chargers 41-28 in the divisional playoffs on Sunday to earn their eighth straight trip to the AFC championship game.

Rookie Sony Michel powers Patriots past Chargers

FOXBORO - Rookie tailback Sony Michel was a red zone sensation in the first half of yesterday's 41-28 blitz of the Los Angeles Chargers in the AFC Divisional Round game at Gillette Stadium.
Michel set a personal standard in his NFL playoff debut that will be difficult to duplicate when the Patriots engage the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC title game next Sunday at Arrowhead Stadium.
The 5-11, 205-pound, first round pick out of Georgia equaled a playoff team record with three rushing touchdowns, all of which were scored in the first half and originated from the red zone.
