Residents of Thousand Oaks mourn after gunman kills 12 at club

Thousands Oaks residents gathered outside Los Robles Regional Medical Center this morning as word spread of the victims from the night's deadly shooting at a nearby bar. One of those victims, Ventura County sheriff's Deputy Ron Helus, was taken there. Helus was killed in the gunfire as well as 11 others. “I needed to be here to show my respect.” said Lilly Rigg, who lives in Thousand Oaks near bar where the shooting occurred. Something like this “never happened so close to home. It's such a tight community. So safe.”

California Sen. Dianne Feinstein called for votes on a number of gun control bills following the Thousand Oaks shooting on Wednesday night.
The Democratic senator said that if gun laws don't change, the country will see "more bodies lying at the foot of failed Republican leadership."
Her statement came after a gunman identified as 28-year-old Ian David Long opened fire at the Borderline Bar & Grill in the Los Angeles suburb of Thousand Oaks.
