Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said today that his taxes went up in the wake of the Republican tax rewrite thanks to its cap on state and local tax deductions. “I can tell you I did not personally benefit” from the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, Mnuchin told the House Ways and Means committee. “I personally pay taxes in New York and California and my tax rate did go up because I no longer have the SALT deduction,” he said.
