Here comes a really terrible public policy idea. The Trump administration wants to deliver nonperishable food directly to America's poor.
Under a plan just outlined by Office of Management and Budget Director Mick Mulvaney, the federal government would design, prepare, package, and deliver boxed food to 38 million food stamp recipients. Their monthly stamp allotment would fall by half.
The idea bears an alluring name: "USDA America's Harvest Box." Mulvaney called it " a Blue Apron-type program where you actually receive the food instead of receive the cash," referring to the private...

Blue Cross of Idaho will being to offer plans that do not comply with Obamacare's basic regulations after a change by the state's government.
The so-called Freedom Blue plans would cap the benefits a person could receive in a year and charge people more due to a preexisting condition.
Neither of those features are permitted under the Affordable Care Act.
It is unclear whether the Department of Health and Human Services will step in and prevent Idaho from selling these plans.
