Migrant Caravan Resumes March North From Mexico-Guatemala Border

Crowds of migrants resumed their long journey north on Sunday from the Mexican border city of Ciudad Hidalgo, according to Mexican federal police officers.
The caravan was headed for Tapachula, a city about 37 km north of the Mexico-Guatemala border, the officers told CNN.
There were about 10 buses awaiting migrants along the highway between Tapachula and Ciudad Hidalgo and the drivers had been instructed to carry the migrants to shelters in Tapachula, the officers said. It was unclear how many of the group were from the migrant caravan and how many were Mexicans who joined the march.

The Latest: Federal police monitoring migrant caravan

CIUDAD HIDALGO, Mexico - The Latest on the caravan of Central American migrants hoping to reach the United States :
9:10 a.m.
Three federal police units are escorting the massive crowd of migrants marching across southernmost Mexico and a police helicopter has been flying overhead. It's not immediately clear if Mexican authorities plan again to try to stop the march, which has swelled to some 5,000 people.
Municipal police in the town of Frontera Hidalgo stood by. City police officer Luis Fernando Mejia Morales said “the instructions are to treat them kindly. They are human beings.”
