Boston Arts Academy seeks $123M from city for proposed renovations

The City Council will consider a request today for $123 million for a proposed Boston Arts Academy building with construction slated for next year. The proposal calls for the current site in Fenway to be razed in September 2018. The new five-story building could include a black box theater, four dance studios, a chorale room, a band/orchestra room, a multi-purpose recital/lecture hall, a recording suite, several practice and ensemble rooms and a Clothing Construction Lab to enhance BAA's Fashion Technology program. The school serves 450 kids in grades 9 to 12.
