This week, the Supreme Court weighed the proper standard states must use to determine whether a capital defendant has an intellectual disability that would prevent a death sentence.
In a landmark 2002 case , the court ruled that the Constitution bars the execution of “mentally retarded offenders,” but left open the question of how a state might assess the disability. The new case, Moore v. Texas, aims to fill some of that void in the law.

Sen. Jeff Sessions , President-elect Donald Trump's pick to head the Department of Justice, argued last year that the fight against climate change is a conspiracy to afflict poor people.
In a November 2015 interview with a conservative Christian lobbying group's in-house podcast, Sessions said investing trillions into clean energy does “almost nothing” to fight global warming and makes it harder for people in poor countries to afford electricity, according to audio obtained Thursday by The Huffington Post.
